Article on SAT process

Are teachers in this world tired of their jobs or are they making the time limits to short of a limit?
I do not think it is the teachers fault, I just do not understand why if people need extra time that they are not able to give it to them, I do not see what the big deal about giving extra time to the students that need it, they want students to do there best,correct well if they actually want the very best out of someone, they need to give them the time to do that.
I think the way the judges should grade the writing articles are by the content of the way students answer them but also they should not count off for the writing articles that they may not finish, because of the short limit time that they are receiving.
I also think the time limit of 25 mins is crazy, because they always want their students to do their very best,well maybe they need more time than that to write the best article possible, with the topic they are given and also they should be able to relax and actually think about the things they want to say and how they want to say it, instead of rushing into writing things.
The part of this article that I agree with and also like is “College professors, according to Gere, expect their students to be able to demonstrate evidence-based argument in their writing. This involves reading and synthesizing materials that offer multiple perspectives, and writing something that shows students are able to navigate through conflicting positions to come up with a nuanced argument. For those trained in the five-paragraph,
non-fact-based writing style that is rewarded on the SAT, shifting gears can be extremely
challenging. “The SAT does [students] no favors,” Gere says, “because it gives them a diminished view of what writing is by treating it as something that can be done once, quickly, and that it doesn’t require any basis in fact.”
I do not believe that I am ready to take the SAT writing part, because I need to work on my sentence structure, my grammar skills and also the way I want to respond to the topic at hand.
I also should work on timing myself when I am writing about a specific topic that needs some thinking skills
In Conclusion, I think reading this article was somewhat an eye-opener to both maybe students and teachers, so now maybe they will create a new testing method and also testing time limit.

  1. I agree with you that it should probably have some more time but I think you are missing the point of that section of the test they do not care if your answer is correct or not. The main thing they look for is how structurally sound your writing is like your use of grammar and other stuff like we have learned in English. This passage from the article describes it clearly. It says, “To do well on the essay, he says, the best approach is to just make stuff up. It doesn’t matter if [what you write] is true or not.” This right here is exactly what I’m saying is you do not need to have time to think about what you are writing. You can have the best score on this test if you have good writing skills and you are a good BS'r.

  2. I think you blog is really good. I just think you should break up your text more. with big paragraphs it does not kept my attention that long. I do agree maybe they should give more till for the writing portion of the test and I do agree with (Tntparts) that they don't care what you write as long as the structure of it and the grammer is good because it shows what you have learned. Great job kept it up!

  3. I like this blog post a lot and you're opinion makes completely sense. Next time try a big font and seperating the text some. Also, there is a couple Type-O's throughout it. I do think that people don't need to have such a short time limit. Most people can't write something in that amount of time.
